December 30, 2008 - Any warm winter day is a gift!
Yo Run Gang,
Strange weather but any warm winter day is a gift not to be passed up but the wind! Its time to call in some favors, get a ride upwind and then run home or drive upwind, leave a car and catch a ride back to get the car whenever. I always enjoy a point to point run, it doesnt seem so, pointless!
As silly as New Years resolutions are I enjoy the clean slate feel of the blank running log ahead. A great time to plan, to dream and to start. Having New Years falling in a winter month is a valuable catalyst to get us out the door when we need it most. If youre lucky, you got some Holiday running gifts; these also can help light the fire. No run gifts? This is the week to go buy your self some, call it an investment in motivation, one sure to beat the market in 09! (See the Product of the Week below).

2013-01-16 - Every Breath is a Gift

The yoga gang is big on focusing on being in the moment, forgetting what has happened or all that will happen and truly experiencing what is happening. It's a busy and complicated life we choose, rich with goals and experiences, a life that often requires an effort on our part to be in the moment.
Yoga does it with a visual point of focus and concentration on deep breaths and poses. From my yoga experience, as far as being in the moment, it works, stopping the endless chatter of the brain and getting down to basics, leaving me with what I call "the yoga buzz" that I enjoy.
Running, on the other hand lets me experience being in the moment by immersing me in the sights, sounds and smells of the world as I pass thought it. Feeling the wind on my face, the heat, the cold, and the wet, while using my muscles, core strength and firing the nerves that serve the brain-to-foot coordination, making it hard not to live in the moment. Amen! (As Webster defines it: Amen: Used to express solemn ratification (as of an expression of faith) or hearty approval (as of an assertion).) Yeah baby!

2012-07-11 - Schedule? What Schedule?
Yo run gang,
It's a beautiful morning for a run ... and I'm taking the day off, dang, it's hard to run smart. Yesterday I had twinges of pain all over the place on the run, my body telling me to take a day off, the schedule saying otherwise. Schedules will get you in trouble ALL the time, never consider a schedule the authority, they are just a guide to help you make progress, lots of knowledge and science goes into them but they are a static view of a dynamic venture.
It might even be good to get off schedule a bit, right from the beginning, just to let it know who's really calling the shots!
