July 14, 2010 - The Passion!

Yo Run gang,

This running and fitness lifestyle is truly a blessing, I cannot imagine life without a passion, better yet, a positive passion. I was driving behind a truck with lots of stickers about field training dogs, dog events, even a dog vanity plate . Much of it made no sense to me much like a 26.2 sticker might not make sense to them but you could just feel the passion. The meaning of life? Perhaps not, but certainly a huge and important part to a fulfilled and complete life, making getting out the door a priority you don't want to mess with! Get out and run, it is essential for your happiness and wellbeing. How's that for justification!

Events are the spice of this running life! The Northville Roadrunners put on a classy little race at Maybury State Park: "The Road Runner Classic 8K (5 miles)" is on July 24th, they always make it fun. Enter at northvilleroadrunners.org. Hit the dirt on July 31st at The Legend" 5 and 10 mile Trail race at Sleepy Hollow State Park. (Just north of Lansing, about an hour and a half from west Metro Detroit and well worth the drive.) A shady summer trail run is just the ticket, especially when you can finish up with a jump in the lake and a day at the beach! Enter today at runlegend.com. Kind of like a "Grim Crim!"

The Ann Arbor Art Fair, a time for Art ... and SHOE DEALS! A Running Fit tradition, to pile up all the close-out shoes and sell ‘em cheap! There are gems to be found! See the product of the week.

Due to popular demand and a quick sell out, we have opened up another self defense class with a 20 person limit. Class is Tuesday July 27th, 6:30 PM - 8 PM at Running Fit 700 Jackson Rd, Ann Arbor, MI 48103. The fee is $70. Email This email address is being protected from spambots. November 4, 2009 - I love funky weather to play in!

Yo run gang,

As you know, I love funky weather to play in! Saturday morning, my wife and I left the warmth of our cottage and ran out into a pounding 30 something degree rain. The 40 mph gusts cracking at the trees overhead, the muddy trails under foot and the spooky daytime darkness in the woods made for the perfect Halloween run and left us deserving of candy! OK, the reality, we questioned heading out, waffled a while due to the wicked day, then reluctantly decided it would be our only chance to run. We overdressed and headed out, running short but got-R-done. The moral of the story: Yes, not until we were out the door did we get into the sprit, once outside, we laughed at ourselves and splashed along like happy campers, finishing totally fulfilled. Notice how I keep repeating the important themes, proving once again that even an obsessed runner needs to trick himself out the door for the treat. Click here for more tricks to get you out the door!

Yes, we spammed you with some junk mail about the Soles4Souls tour bus coming to our Ann Arbor West store at 5700 Jackson Rd, 4-6 PM Friday, but Im throwing out one more reminder! Check out the bus, check out our new digs, donate some shoes and well give you a $10 off shoe coupon for your next pair!

Just say Go!

March 3, 2010 - Training is aimed at the ultimate goal!

Yo run gang,

In winter I train hard and focus my running on one key spring event, I run several spring races but the training is aimed at the ultimate goal. After that race, I become a triathlete until mid August, at which time I revert back to a runner with my sights set on a fall goal. Sounds pretty well rounded for an obsessed runner, eh? The truth is, you cant have hard days without easy days and you cant have a peak season without an off season. Yes its hard to switch gears but the end result is rewarding, and dare I say it, the triathlon is pretty darn cool. Does this all sound like a nice intro to a shameless plug?

On Saturday March 20th, we are having a triathlon season kick off day of fun at the Running Fit 5700 Jackson Rd. Headquarters in Ann Arbor. No charge! We will have multisport vendors on hand showing off the latest and greatest gear. Frazz cartoonist Jeff Mallett signing his book, Trizophrenia, wet suit demos in our Endless Pool, an 8:30 AM bike ride, a 10:00 AM run, with vendor and tri club booths opening at 11:00 AM. We will have a panel discussion about the sport at 11:30 AM and one of the wildest transition clinics you will ever see as 3 pro level men and 3 pro level women triathletes jump out of the endless pool in full wetsuits at the same time, race through transition, mounting and racing a 100 bike ride into transition followed by 100 run. This will be quite the learning experience, followed by a Q&A. Booths and demos will be open until 2:00 PM but you can stay and shop as long as you want! Expect discounts and swag give-a-ways all day. We will send out an email with more specifics but I wanted to let you know to save the date.
